The Tooth Labs

About

The science of oral health, explained.

The Tooth Labs is an independent editorial project. We translate research on teeth, gums, and oral health into plain language, and we honestly review the supplements people are sold. We are not a dental practice. We do not diagnose anyone.

What we publish

Plain-language notes, all free:

  1. Editorial reviews. Honest, source-cited looks at the oral-health supplements people are sold (gum-health probiotics, "rebuild your teeth" capsules, vitamin stacks). We say plainly where the evidence is thin and where a claim crosses into something a supplement cannot do.
  2. Explainer notes. A growing library of summaries of research on gum disease, tooth decay, bleeding gums, and oral-health nutrition, drawn from the ADA, NIH/NIDCR, Cochrane Oral Health, the AAP, and the NHS.

What we will not do

  • Diagnose your symptoms or replace seeing a dentist, hygienist, or periodontist.
  • Use a fabricated "Dr. X" persona to lend false authority to articles. Articles are signed "The Tooth Labs editorial desk."
  • Recommend supplements as cures for gum disease, cavities, or tooth loss.
  • Use hard-banned health claims like "cure," "treats," "heals," "reverse," "regrow," "guaranteed," "FDA-approved," or "clinically proven" in our writing.
  • Run sponsored content or accept payment to alter editorial framing.

Editorial framing and credentials

We are an editorial desk, not licensed practitioners. We do not claim dental credentials we do not have. Where a question requires clinical judgement (for example, "do these bleeding gums need a deep clean?"), we point to the relevant professional guideline and recommend you see a dentist. We do not stand in for one.

Affiliate disclosure

Some of our product reviews contain affiliate links. If you buy through one of them, we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. That commission never buys a better verdict. We never accept payment to alter editorial framing, and a product paying a higher commission does not get softer coverage. Where a link is an affiliate link, it is marked rel="sponsored" and disclosed inline. Where we judge a product weak or overhyped, we say so regardless of whether it pays.

How we review a product

For every supplement we cover, we separate three questions that marketing tends to blur: is the product real and does it ship, is each ingredient supported by evidence at the dose used, and does the finished formula have any independent trial behind it. A product can be a genuine, well-shipped capsule and still rest its claims on studies of single ingredients rather than the product itself. We label that distinction plainly.

Ownership and monetization disclosure

The Tooth Labs is an independent editorial project. Operating cost is covered by the publisher and, where disclosed, by affiliate commissions on product reviews. We do not run sponsored content. Where we add an affiliate link, it is disclosed at the point of the link and marked rel="sponsored". Where coverage is purely editorial with no commercial link, you can assume zero financial conflict of interest.
